Hi,

Thank you for reading and taking part in Derilion: Assassination - and if you hadn’t had time to start yet, you can jump in now and make your voice heard!

Previously on Derilion: Assassination

  1. Background and first choice is here.

  2. Second choice is here.

  3. Third choice is here.

Results for the Last Choice

Votes were cast and 46% decided Derilion should try and use Detection to find another option.

If you’ve played our gamebooks before, you’ll already know results from using Attributes tests might not always go as expected…

Let’s find out what happens next…

Choice Four

Derilion took a moment and tried to shut out her surroundings. She slowed her breathing, closed her eyes and imagined her senses going out beyond her body.

Roll 2d6 and test for Detection.

As you can see from the above table, Derilion’s Detection Attribute is 8. I rolled 2d6, which came in as a 6 and a 2. Adding those together made 8, which, as it is equal to or less than her Detection score, means she passed the test.

Now, read on.

It took a few moments, but Derilion caught the sense of something in the back of her mind.

Strister. The elf she'd met in the inn the previous night. The elf who'd asked her to help with the portals in Ochil Tree.

Was she behind this attack? And if she was, why?

It made little sense. But, still the name was there.

"Strister," she heard herself say, though she hadn't meant to say it.

Almost immediately, the room grew lighter, and the Lightbringer looked up to see a greenish glow around the hatch.

Was the elf helping her?

She felt it was, and without further ado, decided to try the hatch.

Derilion shifted the bed, stood on it, and opened the hatch. As it dropped down, several years of dust and rat feces descended on her. Fortunately, she'd been expecting it, and had stepped out of the way in time.

After a couple of seconds, she gripped the sides of the hole and hauled herself up. There was little light in the roof space, but Derilion's eyes adjusted slowly. Unfortunately, it didn't appear the roof-space extended very far.

Concerned the attacker would try and strike again, she scrambled across the beams looking for a way out. She hadn't gone far when she saw two more hatches, perhaps leading down into other bedrooms, one slightly larger than the other. She listened as well as she could, but heard nothing, and aware the attacker was still nearby, knew she had to choose quickly.

Can’t wait to see you choose! As always, if you know someone who’d like to join in, forward this email to them - the more the merrier.
