Hi,
I wanted to take a few minutes today just to remind you our latest gamebook ‘Innsmouth: The Stolen Child’ is live on Kickstarter and ending in 24 hours!
Innsmouth: The Stolen Child is a full length (600 section) gamebook with you in the role of a private investigator hired to recover a kidnapped boy from Lovecraft’s shadowed town.
You have to infiltrate and recover the child whilst keeping a low profile - the more you are seen, the harder the enemies to defeat. Stealth is the key!
I got the initial idea for the book whilst I was adapting the story for a graphic novel. A major part of Lovecraft’s story involves a man, Robert Ormstead, having to escape The Gilman House hotel with some nefarious characters pursuing him.
It felt like the perfect set-up for a gamebook, and knowing we had a good following of Lovecraft fans, it felt like the perfect fit.
I set the story 15 years before Lovecraft’s, to show a slightly less dilapidated town (though still fairly bad!). Fans of the story will recognise some of the streets and locations, lifted directly from the story. It was great to be able to open the doors and take a peek inside the homes of these altered people.
We have a fantastic cover (see above) from RHStewart (who’s doing the art for the graphic novel), and interior art is once again by Willi Roberts.
The Kickstarter has done fantastically well, and we’re heading towards our final stretch goal of a dust jacket on the hardback edition!
